What I did

UX/UI Design of App

About the Project

The client, based in Sweden, already had an established app that allows users to streamline the dining experience. With this app, customers can visit a restaurant, select their table, and order food directly through the app.

This setup ensures minimal communication between the customer and staff, as the waiter brings the food directly to the designated table, making the entire process more digital and efficient.

Problem

The app's UI and UX were significantly flawed, leaving users confused about how to place an order or interpret what was shown on the screen.

The ordering process was overly complicated and required unnecessary steps, leading to frustration.

The UI resembled low-fidelity wireframes, lacking the polished, modern look that users expect, making the overall experience feel outdated and inefficient.

The design urgently needed a refresh to streamline the flow and enhance usability, aligning with contemporary standards.

End Customer:Restaurants or businesses using the platform's services and solutions.
End User:Individuals or companies utilizing the app to access Tom Garni's services.
Area:A designated section of the restaurant, such as the Bar or Roof top.
Table:The specific table in the restaurant area where the end-user sits.
Meals:Dishes or combos provided by the restaurant for a specific time of day.

QR Code:A code on the restaurant table containing information about the restaurant, area, and table number, streamlining the user experience.

QR Code

To streamline the process, we integrated a QR code in the app's navigation bar.

When a user visits a restaurant, they can simply scan the QR code placed on the table. The app then automatically retrieves the table number, restaurant location, and other relevant details.

This eliminates unnecessary steps and takes the user directly to the restaurant's menu, where they can place their order effortlessly. This addition significantly improves the user experience by simplifying the ordering process.

Menu

After scanning the QR code, the user is seamlessly directed to the restaurant’s menu within the app. From there, they can browse and select their preferred dishes and place the order directly through the app.

The app offers flexibility in payment options, allowing users to either pay immediately upon placing the order or settle the bill later when leaving the restaurant.

Meals

The app featured a dedicated "Meals" section, showcasing the meals offered by various restaurants in the area. These meals were categorized based on the days of the week, as each restaurant could have a different menu on different days.

This allowed users to not only view the current day's offerings but also explore meals available on future dates, providing an enhanced dining experience and better meal planning options.

Live Status

Once an order is placed, users can monitor the live status of their order on the "Live Tracking" screen. This screen displays all the order details and even includes an option for users to add more items to their order if needed.

Additionally, there is a "Call Waiter" button, which, when pressed, sends a notification to the restaurant’s admin, alerting them to send a waiter to the user's table for assistance.
